A little while ago I had the absolute pleasure of diving into something new and exciting – a vintage beauty glamour shoot with the lovely Ashton. Now, let me tell you, this was my first rodeo with vintage glamour photography, but the results? One of the images made its way into Women’s Journal. Yup, you read that right! Fun fact: The gown Ashton is wearing below is from our Client Closet & is actually a size 2X! I clipped it in the back so that it would work for Ashton who is a size S.

Stepping into the world of Old Hollywood Glam was a bit of a challenge at first. The lighting setups were more complex than I anticipated and took quite some time to get just right. But after a lot of experimentation, things finally clicked (pun intended), and I’m super proud of how the photos turned out. Not only did it give me a new creative outlet, but it’s got me pumped to level up my skills in this niche.

One of the coolest things about Ashton’s glamour shoot was the way we achieved the sparkle effect on Ashton’s gown. No digital magic here! I used a star filter and had her move ever so slightly in each shot to catch the light just right. The result? That dreamy, glamorous shimmer bringing ALL the vintage vibes.

Oh, and a fun little behind-the-scenes tidbit: Ashton is decked out in pieces from our client closet; luxurious gowns, sparkling jewelry, & even some faux furs added an extra dose of drama. But here’s the kicker – one of those “faux furs” was actually just a blanket! You wouldn’t have guessed it from the photos, right? Gotta love a creative hack which I am ALL about when it comes to styling my shoots…I often wonder if I should add “wardrobe stylist” to my resume.
