Looking through your closet for something to wear for your boudoir photography shoot can be an impossible effort. Let’s face it. You try to pick out things that fit well and are comfortable, but those are the things you wear the most. They are worn. The lingerie in the back of your drawer is there for a reason. It looks new, but it’s uncomfortable. The challenge when thinking of boudoir photography outfit ideas from your closet is not impossible, but it does require open-minded thinking that strays from bras and panties.
That ever-so-comfy, loose-fitting kimono is not just for lounging. It can be a super-sexy piece of drapery exposing only the parts you wish to have photographed. It’s also a way to add some detailed patterns without your photos becoming too busy.
A cardigan sweater is in many ways similar to a kimono, but you wear it differently. Instead of a sensual drapery, a cardigan is like a hug. It is more comforting than comfortable. These are great for more vulnerable shots.
Silky cami sets sexily drape over every curve, and they are made to be comfortable. This is a major plus for any first-timer who may feel a little uncomfortable exposing her sexier side on camera. It’s an excellent closet item to serve as an ice breaker on set, and your photographer will help you learn how to do the rest.
If you are ready for it, a necktie can send a sultry message, especially if you aren’t wearing anything else. Not all boudoir photography is done in the nude, but when it is, an accessory can be an interesting visual element.
Whether it is male or female, a business suit or button-up shirt is a realistic representation of the transition from daily life to bedroom life. This is especially sexy because it subliminally tells a narrative that everyone can relate to.
A simple or ornate slip is meant to be sexy in most cases, and it isn’t really straying from lingerie. However, these slips are often out of mind when they are hanging in the closet, or they aren’t considered because they cover too much. Sometimes showing less means being more provocative. If you love the way you look in your slip, bring it to your boudoir shoot!
Owning a sports jersey means that you are a huge fan, but you also know it has some sex appeal. This is especially true if you are giving it to your partner, AND you are rooting for the same team.
Many people choose bathrobes or blankets to reveal key parts of the body while offering versatile coverage control. Usually, this means some shoulder exposure. An off-the-shoulder sweater brings similar coverage control while keeping your sexy shoulders in the shot.
There are so many types of leather jackets, and every one of them can be used in boudoir photography. Imagine the possibilities. A moto jacket is very different from a duster, but they are both sexy in their own right!
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t own a maxi dress. If you don’t, stop what you are doing, and go buy one now! Just kidding, but they are universally appealing. They can also be entirely sexy and sensual when used in the right context.
Many people interested in boudoir shoots want to save a little money by not splurging on a bunch of lingerie they won’t wear very often. That is not a problem. Raid your closet. It is full of boudoir treasures. You are likely to have many things that can be manipulated into sexy outfits for your boudoir photography shoot.
