If you’ve made the decision to have a Dallas boudoir photography shoot, you’re probably wondering what kind of shoot you should do. Most of our boudoir shoots take place at our studio here in Dallas, but every now & then, we travel to do boudoir sessions on location. Choosing the type of boudoir shoot you want is all about you! If you’re still trying to figure out your style, here’s 50+ ideas for your boudoir shoot.
Bedroom boudoir is classic. It’s the first thing that most people think of when they think of a boudoir shoot. Body positioning, furniture, props, and lighting can transform the subject into an ethereal beauty, sizzling vixen, or playful tease. Bedroom boudoir is the foundation of boudoir photography.
If it’s your first time in front of a camera, a bedroom setting will be the most comfortable type of boudoir shoot for you. You’ll be in a completely private space and I’ll guide you through a wide variety of poses & facial expressions like pouty lips & sultry eyes. This type of boudoir makes the perfect gift for a significant other. OR, do it for yourself! There’s nothing better than a boudoir shoot to give yourself a day of pampering & confidence boosting.
Another fun, relaxing, & private location for a boudoir shoot is a bathtub. In a bathtub, my clients tend to naturally fall into poses that are photogenic. Bathtubs are great because they can be used in a variety of ways to create a a custom look & feel for your shoot. Bubbles can be used to cover-up sensitive areas, flower petals can be thrown in the water to make your session ultra feminine, food coloring can be used to make the water color unique for your shoot, candles can be set up to do a darker & moodier style bathtub shoot…the list goes on! The options are truly endless & completely up to you. Once you book a Dallas boudoir photography shoot, we’ll chat & figure it all out!
Picture a Sports Illustrated ad, only with a real woman featured, and you’ve got pool boudoir. I love doing pool boudoir shoots because I love proving that not only skinny minis look great in swimsuits! 🙂
A little less private than an indoor shoot, pool boudoir shoots are for the more daring ladies. My clients typically choose between bringing swimsuits or beautiful sheer lingerie to wear in the water. For the more playful woman, choose to include rafts & other water toys to use as props in your shoot.
Monochromatic settings automatically have tension in the search for contrast, and desert boudoir photography makes that tension pop even more. Subjects can add tension by blending into the setting with neutral lingerie or clothing items, or they can “pop” out with color in a way that lets the setting frame the shot.
Desert settings are also an opportunity to introduce edgier, less feminine clothing, as well as props like animals. One of my dreams is to travel to Africa, do a safari, and photograph a real woman in lingerie with zebras & giraffes in the background!
The beach is another perfect place to do a boudoir shoot. At the beach, you’ll get a windswept, “sun-kissed by the sand & sea” look to your boudoir photos. Beach boudoir sessions are also for the brave, as you’ll more than likely have an audience unless you own a private slice of beach. I always recommend that my beach boudoir ladies opt for the more modest lingerie options, or even a swimsuit or evening gown for beach sessions.
Ideas for beach boudoir photos include walking in the sand which is romantic in & of it’s own, sitting on some rocks at the beach while waves crash gently, or doing a sexy Sports Illustrated style shot on the beach. The best time to do a beach boudoir shoot is during Golden Hour, which is an hour after sunrise or an hour before sunset.
Ok, that was just a sneak peek. The truth is, it would take DAYS to write descriptions of the 45 other boudoir shoot ideas. However, I’ve got photos of them!! 🙂 Click here to download my mobile-friendly guide & see the other 45+ ideas.
