If you’re considering a boudoir photography session and you’ve never had this experience before, you are probably feeling like a bundle of emotions turned inside out in a knot. On one hand, you are tingling with excitement. On the other hand, you may feel at least some anxiety or confusion about the way it will unfold. The first thing you need to know is that there’s no reason to fret! The boudoir photos you will take together with your photographer will turn out just as magical as you hope. All the process needs is for you to relax and allow yourself to be transported into a special state. Let it bring out the beautiful glow you can radiate. Here are three preparation steps to consider.
You may not have a clear image of what you want your boudoir photography session to be like, or you may know exactly what you want. If you’re unsure, you can look at other boudoir photos for inspiration. These photos can help you decide on the details you’d like to include in your own photoshoot.
However, if you’ve always had a thing for tutu skirts or headdress jewelry, now is the time to speak up. You can include it in your session in the most creative and flattering way possible. The same goes for any favorite body parts or things you’d like glossed over. The purpose of boudoir photography is to make you feel like a queen. You should help your photographer achieve that by speaking directly about your vision.
Don’t be afraid to allow your hairstylist or make-up artist to try something different on you. The whole point of being queen for a day is to discover yourself in a new light and go where you haven’t gone before. This is your big day of beauty and serenity, allow yourself to be pampered and dolled up! After all, the boudoir photos are only as good as you are feeling when you take them. Don’t be afraid to let go and feel like a million dollars, your beauty is worth all that and more.
The boudoir photography session should progress in a way to help you gradually relax. With each shot you’ll become more confident in your poses, no matter the degree of nudity you opt for. For most clients, the most successful photos are those taken towards the end of the boudoir shoot, precisely for this reason. Don’t be afraid to talk to your photographer about anything which could help you relax more. Maybe you’d like more or less light, or a different angle, or maybe you’d like to see some of the photos as you go along. Your wish is our command, since you’re the queen of the day!
