Every woman should take part in a boudoir shoot at one point in her life. Boudoir is all about embracing the feminine. And a great boudoir shoot should have you feeling sexy, confident, and empowered! A key element towards making your session a success is your boudoir wardrobe. You may think “just throw on some lingerie and call it a day.” Well, not so fast. A girl’s got options. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Shooting with a simple white sheet is sophisticated and classic. You wouldn’t think something as simple as a sheet could make such a bold statement, but the sheet is the ultimate romantic boudoir wardrobe accessory. Imagine what’s going through your dear lover’s mind when they see you all wrapped up.
So this isn’t a wardrobe option per se but, all too often, we see women come in with nothing but black. Color is so important when it comes to evoking emotions. Certain colors look absolutely stunning in print. Everyone has their own signature color. What’s yours? What’s the color that everyone says looks amazing on you? Bring that color!
For those ladies who are feeling a bit body-conscious, consider donning a bodysuit. You’ve probably got nightmarish thoughts swirling through your mind of your grandma’s knee length spanks. But bodysuits have come a long way! There are so many sexy, colorful options, from low v-cut to see-through. Go out shopping and see for yourself.
Consider bringing something of your significant other’s to the shoot that you can wear. Some ideas to think about include their socks, their team jersey, their trench coat, their button down shirt. Not only is wearing something of theirs personal and thoughtful, it’s also pretty darn sexy!
You don’t always have to wear lingerie from head to toe (although we highly recommend it). See if there are ways that you can mix and match. Consider what you already have in your closet and how it can work mixed with lingerie. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box.
At the end of the day, it’s vital to bring elements of your personality into the shoot. While it’s important to be comfortable, don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. Think about what that special someone would like or go with whatever speaks to you & your personal style. Happy shooting!
