Posing for the camera is something most people do every day snapping selfies for Instagram or Facebook. It’s a shameless activity, and we love it! However, posing in front of the camera for a boudoir photography shoot is different. It can make the most extroverted people get a bit camera-shy. Planning a shoot? Use these tips to conquer being shy in boudoir photography.
One sure way to put your shyness on hold is to open your mouth and talk about it. Being shy, even when unexpected, should not hurt your pride. Admit it to your photographer. Talk about reasons you may be feeling this way. Simply airing your feelings can help to reduce your hang-ups. Not only that, but your photographer will be able to help you work through it. If you don’t talk about it, your hesitation may show up in your photographs.
Unless you’re having a boudoir shoot in your home, you are probably feeling a little uncomfortable getting sexy in a new and different location. Beginning your shoot in your most comfortable outfit choices or in the most comfortable poses can give you time to loosen up. You may also want to work up to exposing certain areas of your body. Some aspects of boudoir photography are meant to get you out of your comfort zone. You don’t have to begin with a full nude.
Are you doing a boudoir photography shoot as a gift for your partner? Is it an effort in self-love? Think back to the reason you are doing your shoot. Even if it is just for fun, remember to have that fun.
Getting a little anxious before your shoot is normal. It might make you hold your breath without you noticing. A little oxygen goes a long way toward minimizing stress. If you want to make it really effective, practice some extended breathing like you are in yoga class. Throw in some stretches if it helps.
Working through unwanted feelings like shyness may require some vision. This means you should think about how your pictures are going to look. If you are hoping to look vulnerable, get into that character. Going for a fiercer look? Put on your game face. Picture in your mind the person you want to see in your end result, and try to become that person. Focusing on results can automatically put you in a mindset to achieve them.
Practice makes perfect, and one way to lessen shyness in front of the boudoir photography camera is to do it more often. Every time you do it, you’ll find new ways to conquer your shyness. You might even eliminate it. Eventually, you’ll find yourself at ease and hopefully get a lot of enjoyment from the experience.
It isn’t bad to be shy, but it can lessen your boudoir photography shoot enjoyment. Enjoying your shoot is such an important part of the experience. Use these tips to help reduce your shyness, so you can have a fabulous time.
