Donna is a teacher & the Mom of two 20-somethings. She’s the luckiest lady I’ve shot thus far. She got the best of both worlds during her boudoir photography session: TWO locations. As you’ve probably noticed, some of our boudoir photography sessions happen onsite at our studio, while others happen offsite.
When Donna mentioned that she was staying at the Andaz Hotel downtown as she was visiting from Macon, Georgia, I knew from having shot there in the past that we had to do BOTH. Shoot at my studio, AND at the hotel. She was in shock when I made the offer to shoot both at no additional cost to her. It was great fun sneaking the shoot in while her husband, who was the main reason they had made the trip, attended a business conference during the day!
After checking out the outfits Donna had brought for the session, I advised her on the most complimentary outfit. I suggested she wears her husband’s shirt and the darker outfits at the Andaz hotel and the pastel ones at my studio.
Donna was so nervous she had told me she’d thrown back a few tequila shots. To my surprise, those jitters never really wore off as she was nervous about her Mama belly. Even after I showed her the back of my camera throughout the shoot, the jitters were there. I made sure I posed her in ways where the Mama belly would not show. She responded with “I’m ok with that photo.”. Never once did I get the “Wow, that’s me?!!” or “Wow, I look great!!”. I’ve become accustomed to hearing this from other clients. No matter how hard I tried to encourage her by telling her that she was ONE HOT MAMA, that was the response I got. I was sure by the time the shoot ended at my studio, I had not done my job at all of making this woman see what both I & her husband see. She is absolutely beautiful from the inside & out.
Even during her viewing the next day, Donna’s responses were still just “I’m ok with that photo.” Then, much to my surprise, she ordered one of the largest and most luxurious leather albums I offer. The icing on the cake though was when she agreed to allow me to share her photos online. THIS is why I am a boudoir photographer. It’s not for the money. I could shoot any type of photography for the money. I specialize in boudoir photography because it is fulfilling, for ME. As someone who grew up feeling ugly & undesirable until my late 20s, I know the impact that a makeover shoot can have for a lady. If I can help just one teen or Mom see her God-given beauty, I’ve truly done my job at making this world a better place.
