You want to feel comfortable and beautiful.

Location

It also involves the selection of a beautiful setting. This may be a bedroom, an outdoor location, or a multitude of other options, but the setting is meant to increase comfort and make your shots one-of-a-kind. You aren’t just a person in a lingerie magazine, you are a goddess in a garden…or a mermaid on the beach…or whatever you want to be.

How does this relate to the elderly woman in the tub? She made it her own. She was comfortable putting a comedy spin on her photoshoot. What makes it successful is that she didn’t cut corners. The tub is full to the brim with yarn. She is wearing lingerie (I think), and she took the time to put her hair in rollers to increase the authenticity in the shoot. It’s a comedy win, but it is also a boudoir win.

Don’t be afraid to make boudoir your own. Do it in whatever style you like. Silly, serious, sexy, and funny are all options, and boudoir photography is not a cookie-cutter business.
